Bill Fairweather Retires

I went into the station on Monday for a meeting ... and found that the station had closed because of the snow storm. I don't ever remember when the station would shut itself down because of the weather ... except for the big one in 1978.
Anyway, talking to one of the engineers I found out that Bill Fairweather had retired three weeks ago. I thought you all would like to know about this as another of our older engineers leave the ship.

Just to re-assure everyone that we're not letting our long-time engineering colleagues go "gently into that good night" without taking special notice. And we're certainly going to leave the porch light on for return freelance engagements.
At a date in the Spring (TBA), we'll be celebrating the extraordinary contributions to WGBH over the years of Bill Fairweather, Chas Norton, Benny Krol, Gordy Mehlman, and Jim Deering. I'll be certain to let you know when the date/time have been set.
