WGBH colleagues, friends, and fans (present and past) of longtime ’GBHer Valerie Gunderson, Director of Budget Operations, are invited to gather in our Calderwood Studio (1 South) to remember her this Fri, 6/20, beginning at 10:30am.
“It’s a longstanding tradition at WGBH to gather, Quaker-style, in the memory of dear colleagues and share our reflections—memories, anecdotes, poems—or, if we prefer, sit in silent contemplation,” say WGBH President Jon Abbott, COO Ben Godley, and CFO Vinay Mehra. “We hope this gathering will help bring comfort to all those who are coping with this loss, and we are honored that her husband Ted Osiecki will join us. We invite everyone who’d like to wear purple, among the many things Valerie was known for.” Light refreshments will follow.
“We know that a number of key colleagues will be unable to join in on Friday,” notes Human Resources VP Fran Sullivan, “and we apologize to anyone who would have liked to participate but cannot. Orchestrating a large gathering and coordinating schedules has presented a considerable challenge. Thank you for your understanding.”
A key member of the ’GBH family for more than 25 years, Valerie died unexpectedly in her sleep on Thurs, 6/7 at age 59. Condolences may be sent to Ted at 2 Locust Grove Rd, Harwich, MA 02645. Valerie’s family welcomes donations to her favorite charities: Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston (mspca.org) or HopeHealth Hospice in Cape Cod (hopehealthco.org).
