It is with great sadness that we write to tell you that Elliott Rivo passed away due to complications from pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday August 15 at 2:30 pm at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline MA

Shiva will be held Wednesday evening after the funeral, and on Thursday August 16 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the home of Sharon & Elliott: 20 Willow Crescent, Brookline, MA 02445

Sharon Rivo was a long time producer at WGBH and her husband served as a Doctor to many of the members of the staff, including me and my wife.

Elliott Rivo, MD, of Brookline at age 85 on Monday, August 13, 2018. For 53 years, he was the beloved husband of Sharon Pucker Rivo. Loving father of Lisa Rivo, Steven Rivo & his wife Jessica Millstone, and Rebecca Rivo. Cherished “Tata” to Jones and Sylvie.

Accomplished OB/GYN physician, skilled surgeon and early pioneer in women’s health and contraception including the development of the birth control pill, IUD, infertility treatments, and microsurgery. Former faculty member of Harvard and Tufts medical schools.

He is survived by his devoted family, including his identical twin brother Morton G. Rivo, niece and nephew Susie and Michael Rivo, brother and sister in law Bernard & Sue Pucker and nephews Michael, Ken, and Jon Pucker.

Services will be held at the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline on Wednesday, August 15 at 2:30pm. Interment at Beit Olam Cemetery, 61 Old Sudbury Road (Route 27), Wayland.

Memorial observance at the family home in Brookline, following the burial through 8:00pm and continuing Thursday, August 16, from 4:00-9:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Physicians for Reproductive Rights (prh.org) or The Benjamin M. Banks, MD Fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 116 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02116.
