Ron Della Chiesa
From ">Ron Della Chiesa – April 11, 2016
This year I’ll be celebrating my 25th year as the radio host of the Boston Symphony Orchestra broadcasts from Symphony Hall and Tanglewood on WCRB 99.5. My “Strictly Sinatra” and “Musicamerica” shows are heard Sunday nights beginning at 7pm on WPLM 99.1.
Four years ago I published my book “Radio My Way” to celebrate my 50 years in broadcasting available at Amazon. Recently I’ve been active on the lecture circuit speaking about my life in radio, the great American Songbook, and Opera’s Golden age.
I treasure my years at WGBH where I had the opportunity to work with some of the most creative and talented people in the media world.
My wife Joyce and I make our home in Boston where we enjoy getting together with old friends and sharing good times and memories.
Stay tuned. “The Best is Yet to Come!”
Happy Birthday to the BEST and MOST TALENTED Person I’ve had the good fortune to work with. I wish you many great years ahead of sharing beautiful music with us all.
I loved working with you Ronnie. You contributed so much to make WGBH Radio wonderful. I am so happy that we have gotten a chance to reconnect. I hope you had a wonderful Birthday
Love

Dear Ron,
Happy Birthday. You cannot possibly be 80. Congratulations on such a long and distinguished career. And hello to everyone from Radio in the 70’s and 80’s. I think of you with much affection.
Aimée
Ok, ok, so news comes late to my home here on Martha’s Vineyard. Happy Birthday, Ron! In five years I’ll be catching up to you.
Happy belated birthday, Ron! Didn’t realize there was a celebration, otherwise Ellen and I would have come up from the Cape for the celebration. And about to mark your 25th year in the BSO broadcast booth? Your enthusiasm for the repertory and the orchestra has never flagged. We enjoy listening to you during the winter season on Saturday nights on WCRB via streaming, and occasionally in the Berkshires on Sunday nights over the air on WAMC. May there be many seasons more in the years ahead.
All the best,
Brad and Ellen Kraft Spear
Happy BDAY Ron !
Don’t let anyone get your age wrong . You are celebrating the 20th anniversary of your 60th bday. Right ? That’s what I remember. Don’t forget to collect SS while there is still SS.
Ron Della Chiesa, you look exactly the same! Happy birthday, and congratulations on your long career in Radio. I send warm greetings to everyone from Radio and local TV in the 70’s and 80’s.

Congratulations, Ron. Join the club.
All best,

Dear Ron.
Happy Birthday!
I hope this year and the following years will provide you with many opportunities to enjoy the good things that life has to offer.
Happy 80th, Ron! What wonderful memories remain of all our grand adventures, and you continue to sound grand!
Ronaldo — Just remember that 80 is only 26.7 Celsius. I should know.
Happy Birthday — and onward! -John Kerr
Ron, hi – congratulations on your wonderful work. I must say that Bob Gore showed me your book not long ago, and I want to clear up a 45-year-old misunderstanding. When I asked you to take on “MusicAmerica” in the afternoons on GBH-FM, it was because you could do absolutely everything. I never knew you had any other impression impression. Jazz, classical, Americana — every kind of interview — you were the ultimate radio pro, as the years have shown. Anyway, bless you for all you have done and are still doing!
Belated Happy Birthday Ron!
Ronnie, I had no idea about your 80th Birthday Celebration and would have been there for you. Please accept my heartfelt congratulations. It is no surprise you were honored for all your years of service. You deserve it and more. Buon compleanno amico mio Lo
Ron, what you did for Arnold will never be forgotten by my brother and I. He may not have been published, but having his music featured on your radio show was a high point in all of our lives. You validated him!
Thanks to all my wonderful friends who showed up for my 80th birthday celebration at the WGBH studios yesterday. It was a day I will never forget sharing so many memories with you!
For the past 26 years, I’ve been honored to be the voice of the Boston Symphony Orchestra on radio station WCRB. The orchestra never sounded better!
Peace and love!
Happy Birthday, Ron! Boston radio is still the best radio market in the country. In large part because of your talents and many contributions over the years. Wish I could have been there to help you celebrate! Let’s talk soon and catch up.
Happy Birthday Ron,
If I was back in Massachusetts, I would have made it to the party. I’m sure it was great fun loaded with memories and many faces from the past. I’m in Miami now, as a Snowbird these days … but will be back in April. I hope we can share some old time memories sometime. And keep that golden voice broadcasting on WCRB! It’s wonderful to hear your voice continuing on the Boston airways. And I’m also proud to say that’s my cousin, Joe Mathieu IV, the new host on Morning Edition. Love waking up to his voice every morning, too.
CHEERS to YOU for your 80th Birthday!
